Enter My Subconscious

In keeping with my NoExcusesNovember theme I decided to make the most of my time today.  Waiting for a tow truck is always fun when you have a doodle pad and pen handy.  I was listening to some cool tunes on the radio and thinking my schedule just went down the drain…enter my subconscious. 

I had no intentions as usual, and what should appear - a piano with a spiraling staircase.

 Lost In Art...

I came across an old deserted building in my travels (after the car got a checkup at the car doctor) and thought it would be a cool place to take some photographs one of these days.  

Fast forward several hours later when I came home I found this article in my news feed and it got me to wondering if we would get in trouble painting old deserted buildings.

No Excuses

Last month the art world embraced their passion by encouraging artists to draw every day and referred to it as Inktober.  I thought this was a wonderful idea and drew every day without fail, if even just for a few minutes to unwind and relieve some stress for the day.

In keeping with the theme I thought this month should be NoExcusesNovember – no excuses to put off something that brightens my day, no excuses to relax, and no excuses to not let myself be Lost In Art, if even for just a few fleeting moments.

This is what I drew when I was Lost In Art earlier today...Sharpie pen in hand and my daughter on my mind. 

I hope something inspires you to spend a few moments and reflect upon the things you love.

I absolutely love to inspire people to create art and needed a push myself.

Very true...don't just look at one side of things, looking at it in its totality will give you greater perspective. 

Uy created this for her  University of Texas at Austin Department of Art and Art History Digital Foundations class with Bethany Johnson titled "Art is Pointless...". The prompt was to create a work that investigated site-specificity, public setting, and text-based art using Illustrator and the vinyl cutter.

Spring

Spring, on page 11 of Seascape 2010 has been accepted in The Power of Color Juried Photography Exhibition at Belmar Arts Council. Photography will be on display June 11th - July 8th.

The photograph was originally taken while studying Graphic Design Technology at OCVTS for the Student Photographic Society 2009 Spring Competition where it earned Second Place.

Forty Years

Forty Years was written for my parents anniversary in 2009 and combined with a photograph of my mother's garden.

Time is a precious commodity...use it well.
